What are probiotics?

The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health says that probiotics are live microorganisms that are similar to all the beneficial microorganisms found in the human gut. But we like to keep things simple and call probiotics “good bacteria,” because your gut needs a whole variety of strains to keep things running smoothly. Probiotics have proved effective in reducing inflammation, supporting the immune system, promoting healthy digestion and improving mental health. You can learn more about all the benefits of probiotics on gut health (and overall health) on our blog, The Digest.
